I am just getting back in the saddle so to speak and sure enough as soon as the fun really gets going , I find out there is something wrong with my back and I am to see a neurosurgeon. So I suspect there may some surgery in my future. After the fact I am hoping my back is good to go . But if not I will have to make some adjustments. Has anyone dealt with this scenario? Am I to expect that my sex life may have to be curtailed for a time?

Hey sweetie. As you and some others here know,I had major lumbar spinal fusion surgery 5 months ago and I can tell you from my perspective as far as your sex life having to be curtailed for a "time"... I was in such severe pain that sex was the last thing on my mind. I was thankful if I could get out of the bed and make it with my walker to the bathroom to pee and back to bed. For weeks. I don't want to discourage you. I was in really bad shape and my surgery was major. I hope if you DO have to have surgery it will be less invasive with a quicker recovery. I am still months away from being healed. As far as sex goes, my surgeon said that there are no particular "restrictions". After the first few weeks or so.Your BACK will tell you Very quickly that any "restrictions"are based on one simple thing. PAIN.. I would imagine that when you actually feel well enough to want sex, there will be certain positions that are more comfortable and you need to be very careful. Ask your surgeon about the soonest you can even have sex and then follow his instructions and be careful. Yes..your sex life will be curtailed unfortunately, but getting your back fixed and improving your quality of life should be your main concern. I know it is. You will be back to having "fun" ..you are just gonna have to be patient. I am hoping when you see the neurosurgeon that if you DO need surgery it will be something that isn't too major. I think that the

amount of time your sex life will be "curtailed" depends on the type of surgery ,How fast your healing process and pain levels are and when you feel the desire. You know I wish you the best sweetie.

I have major spinal sugery in January 2011 to repair damage in my T-11/T-12 disc. It was causing me ED issues and numbness. After surgery, I have no issues at all. I followed my doctor's instruction to the letter and have had no long-term issues where sex is concerned. Of course, you will have to heal up first before you can engage in sex, but hopefully you'll meet with the same success I have.

DONT GET CRAZY. SEE THE NEURO-SURGEON. IF YOU CAN TOUCH YOUR TOES IN A STANDING POSITION THEN YOU DONT NEED SURGERY. GET AN MRI IF NEEDED. USE A HEATING PAD.
EVEN IF YOU HAVE A HERNIATED DISC YOU CAN STILL HAVE SEX BUT BE CAREFULL. YOU HAVENT SAID WHAT YOUR BACK PROBLEM IS ? GET BACK TO US WITH MORE DETAILS ! DONT RUSH INTO SURGERY . PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN STRENGTHEN
YOUR BACK. THERE'S ALSO EPIDURAL INJECTIONS IF YOU WANT .
