Period is late, can I be pregnant?

I decided to write this post and possibly get some help here...

I am on birth control pill for 5 years and my period has always been incredibly regular during this time. Happens that now I am one week and a half late on my period and I don't know what's wrong, since this hasn't happened in 5 years! There's a few things that might be happening:

- I can be pregnant.. I last had sex in mid september.. mostly we used protection, but the last couple of times we didn't.. he just pulled it off me before he ejaculated;

- I got my period normally on september, a few days after the last time I had sex;

- I didn't took my pill for the last month because I was travelling and forgot to take an extra box with me, and I couldn't buy it without prescription, so I thought it would be ok if I didn't take it for a month;

Happens that my period should have come on Oct. 22nd and it hasn't.. is it possible I am pregnant? Even though I had one period after my last sexual relation? I truly hope not, as I am no longer with the person I had sex with... or does it have anything to do with the fact I didn't take my pill?

I am waiting for my period to come so I can re-start my pill again. My friends tell me it is late cause I'm so stressed about it, but I really am afraid..

I cannot really afford to go see a doctor now, since I'm unemployed.. I also cannot talk about any relative about this (judging people etc..), and I am scared .. I thought about getting a pregnancy test on a pharmacy but I just don't know..

I don't feel any "pregnancy" symptoms.. aside from some nausea I had a few weeks ago. Should I wait a few more days and see if my period comes, should I go and get my pregnancy test.. or should I really see a doctor when I can? Paid ones would be fast but I can't afford... free ones will take me 2-3 months to get an appointment..

If anyone can help me here I would be very appreciated :)

And yes it was stupid to have sex without a condom.. but I was a virgin and I was very sore and the condom made it hurt a lot more, so we tried without it and felt a little better.. and since I was on the pill we thought it would be safe.. I also haven't talked to the guy in question for a while, since he dumped me, and I'm scared since we are not together anymore, I don't really want a baby now, I'm just 24...

First I would get a pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant. Because you are in a bad financial straight.... I would call around to local churches in your area and let them know your problem. A lot of churches offer assistance in this area. I know the church that I attend does help with this. God Bless!

Well, anything IS possible, including pregnancy. However, my first thought is that it has to do with the pill. I stopped mine for a week to force an early period back in June and boy, did it mess up my cycle! I didn't have a period for 2 months. My tubes are tied, so I knew I wasn't pregnant, but it was weird, since I am like clockwork. You may as well take a test though, since you can't keep take the pill if you ARE pregnant. If the test is negative, then just relax and wait.

There isn't really anyone I can talk about this in my daily life, as my family is very judging, I don't really have any friends (just 2 but they live in other countries) and I am really scared and lost right now.. our churches in my country don't do this kind of support, in the other hand, they are even more judging in this area than anyone else! But thanks for the advice!

Sure you could be pregnant. That sometimes happens when you have unprotected sex..even when on the pill.. Get yourself a pregnancy test to be sure.. It's the only way you are going to stop your wondering.

I attend a Non-Denominational church; try one of those. I know our church collects baby items, maternity clothes and much more for pregnant and single Moms. They also offer free Counseling.

Getting off or back on the pill can mess up your cycle. I had mine a week later than it should have been when I got off of the pill and it was scary. But when I got back on the pill after that period I spotted a little and my period started a couple of days after taking the sugar pills.
If you are waiting for your period to begin taking the pills again then just wait. If you are scared get a pregnancy test! Your hormones are not controlled when you aren't on the pill so your body will probably not be regular..

I woman's period can be late for a number of reasons, including pregnancy if you are sexually active. No sense in worrying if you don't need to. I would suggest doing an at home pregnancy test and go from there.

Mobi, I got them tied so I could get pregnant - long story. But it did work! I had no idea tied tubes was so hot - you can't even see them. ;)
I get mroe reaction when I say my lady parts are "pristine" as the docs call it, since I did not have any natural births. But hey, whatever gets you going . . .
