Yes, they should all be remembered and honored.

i have a couple of very special military people who i give graditude to, both in written form and in care packages when they are deployed.

my caring wishes go out to all those who have or are currently serving our country, and not just on memorial day, but every day. they are a very special group of people!!

Semper Fi to all my former comrades, to all those who have given it all in the past, and to all those and their families who continue their undying and professional commitment to represent and defend what this country stands for!

I always take note of American holidays that remember the veterans. My dad was born in America and my grandfather and great-grandfather served in the Navy. My great-grandfather was actually the captain of a battleship. So I always try to remember both American and Canadian veterans, for without them and their sacrifice, we wouldn't be truly free.

I work for the USMC. I have a memorial wall in my shop. It is a place they can pen-in those KIA. The wall is full. Many come into the shop with burns, limps, and various injuries. ALOT have PTSD. Many marriages have fallen apart and girlfriends don't hang around long. They move if not deployed constantly. They work in the heat now. They passed a new rule, they can't role up their sleeves. (Retarded). They don't make much money either. Go on long humps, pull duty with no sleep for 24 hrs. They put up with all kinds of other retarded disorganization and crazy junk that makes no sense. The majority are very very young and live away from home with no one other than their own they serve with. Over this long 96 weekend, many will just stay there in the barracks. Basically it's a one bedroom and a bath with one or maybe two other guys. They'll eat at the chow hall. Go out in the field and train for days, hot, cold it don't matter. There is alot of damands placed on them. They serve and don't ask questions. It can be a hard life. On the good note, they have a job and very nice benifits which they deserve. Schooling, travel opportunities and medical benefits. Ooh-rah!

My dad is an ex green beret, and I'm happy to take my hat off to him this memorial day weekend. My boyfriend was suppose to be military as well, but they wouldn't accept him. I still take my hat off to him for wanting to join.

I take my hat off to the millions of soldiers, both in friendly territory and those in enemy territory, for without them we wouldn't have the freedoms we have today.

Happy memorial day to the men and women who serve and to those who celebrate this holiday.
