Maybe you are just living in the wrong century. A hundred years ago or so it was common for cousins to even marry. It was often preferred over marrying a non-relative. Has anyone in this group ever read a Jane Austen novel or Gone with the Wind (Ashley and Melanie Wilkes were first cousins)? I don't think it is that weird. Also, the risks associated with it in terms of children born with deffects aren't as high as many might think. Having children with a parent or sibling however is a different matter...
