I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year now. I've been on the pill since May(Ortho Tri-Cyclen-Lo), and only a few times have I slipped up on my pill and didn't take it the same as I normally would, yet those times I took it immediately after I remembered.
My boyfriend and I always use condoms, it's usually a no questions asked kinda thing. We've discussed not using condoms but always came to the agreement that using the pill and condoms is great reassurance for us to not have an unplanned pregnancy. However, I was curious do we really HAVE to use the condoms? Obviously the answer is if we don't want a pregnancy then yes, but what's the real answer?
I'd like to say minus the few times I've slipped up on taking my pill I'm very good about it, but I've read you HAVE to be good about taking your pill everyday, same time, if you're going without a condom and relying just on the pill. I'm definitely someone who worries about pregnancy and not wanting that to happen just right now. I'd like to be informed properly so when the time comes to where my boyfriend and I decide to no longer use a condom, then I'll know I've been informed and can do it with an ease of mind.
I'd just like other women's point of view and knowledge on this since I don't really have someone I can really speak to about this, besides the few women I have spoken to about this have always said "no condom and you will get pregnant no matter what! even if you're on the pill!" . I feel like this is a really silly question to be asking but I'm genuinely just curious of the facts and truth about being on birth control and having unprotected sex.

If you're on any other medications though, check with your gyno to see if the other meds lower the effectiveness of the pill, this includes anti-biotics.
When I had to use BC, the pill is the only method we ever used and never had an unplanned pregnancy.
