I think women just like the idea of a 'manly man' that will sweep them off their feet and rescue them...in reality I have never experienced, or seen this so we should probably blame all the romcoms and Disney films for creating false hope and too high an expectation.

But if you think about it, men also have this vision of the perfect woman...created by plastic perfection in porn.

Sure, it's the same for everyone, male or female. The reason I targetted the question at the fellas is there's a desire in every man to feel masculine...powerful, dominant, in control, of his own destiny and his immediate surroundings. Sure, you ladies feel that desire for power too. I think you ladies are more intelligent than many men in that you are more VERBALLY assertive, use the power of WORDS. Men sweeping women off their feet and rescuing them from their own loneliness. Yes, we men can do that...but sometimes we need to be rescued from our loneliness too, like when Julia Roberts rescues Richard Gere right back at the end of the movie Pretty Woman! She was a good influence on him. Men and women CAN accept each other...through kindness!

That movie, Pretty Woman, is actually a good parable of the love I'm talking about. He was a highly paid executive hatchet man who made his billions with hostile takeovers, breaking up companies and selling off their parts, a hollow, caustic, desolate, barren, meaningless existence. She was a prostitute with a sweet heart of gold. Did she require money to live like the princess she wanted to live like? Yes. But she also needed his love. She couldn't just be used for sex by him and then kissed off, put up in a condo.

I second Moo's reply. I also work in construction (engineering) and the men here are all not attractive, or sexy- even if they were younger- don't think they'd fit that description. I don't think sexiness has anything to do with what you do for a living, its who you are for the most part. All the men I have dated are very, very different from each other- You sure couldn't say I have a type. lol. But there was something I found in all of them, that was sexy. You just have to find what your sexy power is, and strut it!
