Basically, I know my body, so I know when I ovulate and everything runs on schedule. Just to be sure, no ejeculate in from 2nd to 20th day of cycle. I have gone as low as day 2 to day 16, but it is cutting too close and i've stopped doing that when I was done having kids and practice more strict parameters.
It has worked for me, but I don't recommend it for anyone else. Too risky.
I agree. Paraguard is a good option, because it has been used for over 20 years that I know of. It is thought to work becsuse it is made of copper. Copper also has antibacterial properties.
Bleeding is a common sideeffect. As with any other IUD, more serious complications are migration of device, perforation of the uterus, damage to cervix during insertion, but it is rare.
There are also surgical options. Tubal ligation is common. There is another - embolization of fallopian tubes. Basically they insert tiny metal coils into the tubes, they become somewhat of a solid, clot-like mass and the eggs no longer travel to uterus.
It is much less invasive than tubal ligation.
It was very convenient because of not having to remember a pill. I don't know if its considered a hormone thing , but something to look into.
