It's Christmas time and I love to go shopping and give gifts to the people I love. Unfortunately I have been going through financial difficulty and me and my best friend decided not to exchange gifts because she is in the same situation. So what I did was (for free)had pictures taken of her kids and her dog. The kids haven't had thier pictures taken in a long while and there is none with the dog. After they were taken my best friend and I were having a conversation about how she told one of her friends not to make her anything, she wants nothing because it would make her feel bad because she can't do the same. I'm disappointed and so are the kids because we can't give her the pictures and my best friend keeps telling me not to do anything for her. Don't spend money on her. it is aggravating.
What should I do about the pictures because I know if I give them to her she will give them back to me and tell me she told me not to give her anything.

To me it isn't about spending money on someone else but to give something that you know another will treasure is pretty special. If she says anything why not let her know the kids really wanted to do this as well. If you think she will feel bad because she received the gift and has nothing to give in return let her know that her friendship is a gift and you can always throw some humor in the situation by telling her she owes you a cup of coffee or some christmas cookes.
In all aspects I do understand if you feel it will upset her but again you can always hold off and give her the pictures for New Years or a later date. Either way I think it was a pretty neat thing you did and to me I think your friend will treasure the pictures. Hoping everything works out and your friendship becomes even stronger. Happy Holidays:)
