I'm the one who texts first. And when I do he always writes back and then we text all day. We see each other every few days. I haven't texted him all day and I haven't heard from him. Why?

Everyone has a different comfort level. Depends on how long you have been dating as well. Perhaps he is a bit more shy? Many variables.
For instance, my guy I typically don't call him as I know he is busy working very long days during the week. I let him call me. Just ask him why this happens the next time he sees you. Perhaps he doesn't even know it is bothering you.

Ask him why he doesn't initiate texts and if that's something you want, talk to him about it.

so I didn't text him at all the other day and nothing from him. the next day nothing again so I did and he called me stranger. then I didn't text him at yesterday and he did at night. I feel like it's a game

Don't make it a game, simply tell him what you want. Open/honest communication is so important in a relationship and that includes letting each other know what we want in a relationship.

Yes, be direct about this. It seems like he expects this from you, and if he expects to hear from you why should he go ahead and text first? (other than obvious reason)

Same here - with everyone though. When I don't initiate contact i hear crickets. It's awesome.
You know what - if it's not a two-way street lose him. Don't go through the pain I go through. NOT worth it. Move on. Someone else is better.

And that's bull about him expecting contact from you. BULL! He should WANT to contact you. If he waits for you to do it what the fuck is that shit? If he wants to talk to you why should he wait for YOU to do it. I'm sorry but I lost yet another friend today so I'm very bitter.
