Enjoy life & don't go looking, the bad boys are easier to find.
You state in reply #5 that your heart has been trampled on twice, and you aren't ready for that again... and you certainly shouldn't be ready to be trampled... but I think you may also just not be ready to even take the chance. If your judgement about men is such that you choose losers, then maybe you would do well to forget about finding a man to complete you, and spend some good solid time enjoying being alone. I know the notion of enjoying aloneness sounds like an oxymoron... but if you aren't able yet to be content without a man in your life... you need to examine yourself and determine how you can fill in that space yourself. Otherwise, its likely that when some guy comes along... any guy who fits your minimum criteria, you'll settle for him and later determine he is a loser too.
Spend some time establishing your criteria, and learning to identify the "tells" that help you recognize that under the veil of desperation this person might seem acceptable... when the veil is lifted... another loser emerges.
As you complete yourself, you will find your standards for what you will and will not open yourself up to will become much more stringent... and as you exude an air that you aren't "looking" for a man... a better quality of man will likely find you inquizitive.
You know the quality you deserve. Don't be quick to settle for less. Alone isn't a bad word.
I think some soul searching is required here and until you love yourself no one else will either.
if you are attracted to bad boys, and must women are at some point, you have to change that way of thinking and find other qualities to look for, it takes some effort but it can be worth it.
you also have to feel that you are worth having a good, decent man in your life
You mentioned having good friends. How do you choose your friends?
Ironically after i stopped looking and totally by accident 2 months later i met and married my hubby and we have been together 13 years now
