Wow... that hurt my brain a little right there. Big thought... little brain.
Seemingly unrelated to your post, but the "two sides to every relationship" title got me expecting a different subject matter. Where you are saying that you would to get back what you put in, which is a valid request... most times the "it takes two to tango" is being used to divert responsibility for one's own actions... and has been my experience that most people that say that are abusers or who have acted badly and want the other to take half the responsibility for their own actions.
Not the case with you, nor your post.
Uni? OHHHH University. for those not versed in British-ese, that means college here in the states.
I'm afraid my rambling advise would be to move on if in the early stages of the relationship, if you are more invested than I would advise seeking some sort of couples counseling to try to bridge the communication gap and get your needs met.
