I dated someone long distance and we broke up exactly for this reason and we only lived 4 hours apart. We both had kids and they had to live where they live .
We probably both know its not going to work.
I just want to know if marriage is in the future. It makes me sad we might be breaking up but I am willing to. I am pretty happy in my life with me. So I am not sure about this myself.
Are you willing to move to Nebraska?? Is he willing to move to Missouri?? Do either of you have a flexible enough life and money to live in both places? Or travel more often to the other?? If not, certainly it makes no sense to remain exclusive. Assuming either of you are exclusive. Otherwise, it's just a place holder, isn't it?
My eldest son and his now wife managed a long distance relationship for 5 years stretching across 2 continents by skyping each other daily and travelling to be with each other about twice a year. He finally married her and relocated to her country, and now they are incredibly happily married. So it can work.
It just really depends on what you are looking for in life and whether you are willing to compromise to make it happen.
But it is not easy.
