I don't really want to pursue the matter anymore because he might think I am stalking him.
It's difficult to remain friends with an ex anyway. It takes usually a long time apart first, maybe a year or more, to even start any kind of friendship. If it can happen at all.
Try to forget about him and move forward with your life. Who cares what he's thinking anymore? Not you! Have you been out dating, going out with friends, having a full social life since the break up? Time to get out and meet some new friends (that aren't him!!!). Good luck. You can do this.
This ex was unique in that he had qualities I didn't see in most men. I.e. he had no interest in sports except for bike riding (both motor and non). I like motorcycles but don't know how to ride. His birthday and mine are 2 days apart. We several things in common. For me that's hard to find.
I'm just sorry it didn't develop into something more.
I'm not friends with my exes either. I thought this one would be different because of how compatible we seemed.
Thank you for your supportive thoughts.
I agree with GirlinCalif, that becoming friends with an ex usually requires time and being apart for a while. Otherwise there are still all those emotions to deal with. I am friendly with one ex boyfriend. That didn’t happen for like over 10 plus after the relationship ended. We both had time to get some emotional distance, and time to create our own lives. But seriously everyone else I was in a relationship with, I never kept in touch. Too much energy. I’m not one of those people who sees a mate as a best friend though either so that might shape my point of view a bit.
