My initial thoughts. Keep in mind I'm 28 and new at a lot of this. You're not divorced, you both still have feelings from the sounds of it. It sounds like a confusing situation and maybe she is just that, confused about what she wants. Maybe your both just figuring it out. Maybe she just needed some space. Other than sex, how is the relationship? I'd take it as a good sign she is still sexual and only wants to be sexual with you. I'd be patient and see how things play out, assuming first of all you are happy and ok with everything. Take care of yourself first, your #1.
Your wife saying she doesn't want sex from anyone else I would see as her not ready to let go of you and move on with her life. How would she feel if you found someone else?
With stbxh and I, we were both ready to move on but we felt until he or I found someone, we're both high libido, we both wanted our sexual needs satisfied and it was safe having sex with each other. It was just a FWB thing between us. Besides stbxh and I having close friends feelings for each other, there's no romantic emotional bond between us so ending our sexapades when I met partner was not an issue for him or for me.
Whether it's healthy or not IMO depends on what the sex is seen as. Is it *just sex* to get both your sexual needs fulfilled or is it because she's trying to hang on to you, to the marriage?
I think you need to decide whether you hope to get back together or not. If you don't plan on getting back together, I think it would be much better to cut those ties and move on with your lives.
I wasted too much time with my ex, and looking back, I can see that I would have made my own life so much easier and better if I had made the decision to move on. Eventually I left that final decision up to him. You need to figure out what is going to work for you and your family if there are children involved.
In my first marriage, she was done and wanted me out a couple years before the divorce papers were started. Sex stopped nearly a year before I moved out and the divorce became final I needed to have minimal contact with her after I moved out because I still had feelings for her and every time she wanted to discuss things with me, it became emotionally confusing for me. Separating myself from the situation was the only way I could step back and gather my thoughts and see things for how they really were. Perhaps you need to do the same thing.
