Maybe if you are dating the wrong types of people it is wiser to be cautious and careful.
There are some books about women picking good men to date and how to not be dumb (your word dummy). Is this the kind of thing you are interested in?
If it happened to you in the past, you may be fearful that it will happen again.
Every partner is a new and different person. They will not act the same as the last one, or the one before that.
If you have trust issues, those can be worked on. Going to therapy can help.
Try to take your time when first dating someone, and get to know the person for awhile before committing to them. Do not jump into a relationship without getting to know the person for awhile first.
Years ago i tried dating after my divorce. The only women i tended to attract were "Bottom of the Barrel". When they started wanting me to dump my son so i could take care of their 5 kids i told myself "I quit" and began to work on myself.
Over the years i have built myself up. I am now working a really good job, i am WAY less angry at the world and finding peace with God. I keep working on myself because i know she is out there but i need to be the best possible version of myself for her.
yes i am lonely but truthfully when i find the woman that can love me with all her heart the ten years or so i have been "alone" would have been worth it.
