Buying generic food items helps, dropping off any and all luxury stuff like eating out, don't drive if you can avoid it and staying home. buying small presents for people instead of large ones. Repairing my own car instead of taking it to the dealer (who usually just messes it up anyway).
I live with two incomes, social security, pension...in addition I work 2 days a week cleaning a house for a dear lady.
I froze my bank cards, and only use one credit card where I earn a percentage on purchases. The money I earn from cleaning I use for the month purchases of food for me and my cat.
Goldielocks5 has great ideas!!
I agree with needs vs wants... You can have coffee with friends at one of your homes instead of going out to a coffee shop
Second hand stores are great for little treasures
I agree with ml with regards to credit... Limit it and be careful with it
The other thing I found nice is when the debit card rounds up and puts that change into savings.
