Hey guys,

I'm new here and just looking for a bit of advice/help.

I have been in a relationship with my gf for 7 years. We have always been together, moved in together shortly after we met. Bought a house together about 4 years ago. I have two children from my previous marraige which she has been there and helped raise. We haven't had the most perfect relationship, there have been many ups and downs but it has been good for the most part.

Anyways, Just this past week, she left. She told me she thinks she just needs a break and we need to be done. It almost blindsided me, maybe because I thought everything had been okay? That may have just been me not realizing that I have been so busy and I hadn't given her all the attention she deserves. My son is older now and is in a sport that requires me to travel quite a few weekends for a couple months. She wasn't able to come because of her work schedule, I own my own business so I have a more flexible schedule.

So she left and has been staying with one of our good friends. She continuously tells me she is sorry and she wishes she could change how she feels. I have been a wreck this entire week and I'm just now starting to be okay. I'm not sure if she just needs time to figure out what she wants in life? We have been together since she was 20 and I was 22. We are older now and we have always just had this dynamic of being together, never seperated. She has gone through a lot lately, changing careers, family issues.  Our friend she is living with thinks she is just having some sort of crisis.

I told her I would give her space and not bother her. I have seen her a few times during the week, my sons birthday was Friday and with Easter this Sunday she still will come over to see the kids and celebrate the holiday with them.

She says she doesn't want to be out of my life or the kids life and she doesn't want me to hate her, she just feels like she needs time to be on her own. Which I guess I can understand.

Just any advice on what I should do? Should I not text her and then maybe in a couple weeks start doing small things for her? I know she loves me as much as I love her, she is just going through so much.

Even when she talks to me. I know her and I can tell how much she loves me and wants to be with me.
