I saw one of the girls who completely walked away from me as a friend when my dog was euthanized, and after the attack ordeal. She's the one who set me up with my current boyfriend and a great deal of our relationship now is based, for me, on the inability for me to move on with him because I haven't gained closure from him siding with this mutual friend we had in common for three months, who set us up. My boyfriend is VERY close-minded at times and especially in the heat of the moment. We have been dating for 4 months, and I had a friendship with that girl that lasted from December- March. My boyfriend has no romantic connection to her, she's actually in a very serious relationship w/ her boyfriend who also knows my boyfriend from The Hamptons. He won't stop defending this girl who literally just walked away from me because she didn't want to deal with the stress of having a friend who was going through a hard time.. or maybe she didn't want to be in the middle of an argument between myself and the other friend in our group of 3, who was actually handling my dog at the time everything went down. maybe she had to walk away because she was worried drama would start but i can't wrap my head around the fact that she knew i was hurting and i still am very deeply, that i considered her a close and good friend, and she told me not to text her again. that something so miniscule as me saying that she was avoiding me and in turn, being a poor friend, was offensive to her. my dog was just killed and i'm offending her? i went through the whole fucking thing alone. what would make her turn on me so quickly from supportive to not giving a shit? at the end of the day her and this other girl, who i have no problem getting rid of because she truly should be held accountable and was absolutely selfish during it, they walked away unscathed back to their boyfriends, while i'm sitting in my apartment crying and hurting badly. these girls know how bad it was because they knew my state of mind, and my boyfriend should have too. instead when i approached him about how difficult it was to understand why these girls did it, he sided with our mutual friend and her boyfriend. i couldn't get over how selfish he was being and i still feel that way. he told me that i was being an inconvenience to him because they were his friends too, and now he couldn't hang out with them. i'm not attached to him, i'm not attached to them. i would think by now i'm a different entity from them and that he has formed his own opinion about me. yes they live in my building and set us up, but he doesn't live in my building and he doesn't even see them that often. i'm mindblown by how he could completely think so selfishly, in terms of how it would impact his friendship with this couple, as opposed to how much it HAS ALREADY impacted me, and how much his lack of support has hurt me! he has a big thing about people playing the 'victim'. he sees me as playing the victim in this because i won't give it up, and 2 months after the fact, i feel very isolated and unsettled. in the context of our relationship i feel like this governs my ability to move on with him because it was very deeply hurtful that he threw away my own hurt and emotions and took this selfish route by siding with this mutual friend. he saw everything out of his own goggles and how a lack of me being friends with her would serve as an inconvenience to him....i'm not an object that just robotically moves around to suffice him. over time what would i do? force awful friendships to make him happy? things fall apart. moreover he makes me feel very guilty and accountable and crazy for this girl walking away from me. i have good friends who tell me that those girls are awful and nasty, and even strangers tell me that too, but it's hard to think for myself when my own boyfriend is telling me it's my fault. what i went through was so hurtful and awful i wouldn't treat a friend like that regardless of how they were acting. i would never walk away from somebody who needed me, and i'd make an extra effort to go over and check on them. i would NEVER ignore them. losing these two girls as friends has felt like losing someone while they walk backwards slowly away from you. it's like they're too scared to turn around and run so they keep one eye on you at all times and just slowly walk away- no explanation or anything. i feel like my relationship has turned into that too. but i can't give it up because i'm so scared of being lonely, and i have been very lonely before. right now i'm suffering through this shit because talking someone is better than nobody...i've been down that road. holding this in, and feeling tethered to my relationship because of these girls is like a perpetual torment. it doesn't get better talking about it and leads to more fights and nasty things said. i can't understand why he A) won't distinguish me from them and B) think less selfishly. he has made the decision to continue dating me, you'd think he'd want to form a more intimate opinion of me, seperate from the social one he knew???? this girl was the 'mechanic' in introducing us, but HE made the decision to like who i was and date me. am i crazy through all of this? it's so painful not having his support.
