I have issues myself so I may read that book.
I have always picked the wrong guys (I say my man picker is broken).
I think it is really great that you are working on yourself.
Maybe with this new guy just be friends first, while you are working on you.
I will be interested to see what others say to this topic so I will be checking back.
As an older woman I value simple kindness and probably would not be bored or unappreciative if a nice, sweet guy comes along.
It really is a great thing that you are aware of these things about yourself and are trying to work on them. Some people are not very self-aware, so first be proud of yourself for your awareness. Second, since you're feeling apprehensive about this new guy and fearing that you/he will fall into the same patterns of your past, I have to agree with onetoomany...being friends first definitely seems like the better option. Feel each other out. See how YOU feel about things as time progresses. If you feel comfortable with yourself and your progress, then you can make the decision to move forward.
