Unfortunately, this doubt all started with something in the active conscience of your bf, so he should be a leaning post to you now until you are coping, which I'm certain that he is willing for supporting you. I sense that you are feeling panic, anxiety and depression because you are still reading through this situation for questions of how-what-when-and why he "felt stuck in his life." He owes you a check-in: Talk with your bf about the expectations you both have for the relationship - and speak of your personal goals as well. Perhaps, even asking him to attend relaxation therapy with you is a good idea as well. All-in-all, look for ways in which you may calmly resolve this matter as a couple. I am so sorry that you are so overwhelmed; however, you don't have to crumble from the pressure. This is a mutual responsibility, between you and dear bf. Just set aside the time to respectively listen to each other and share good and useful opinions for resolving this problem. You are special to him. Best!

I think it is a very mature and honest action on your bf's part to confide in you and tell you about his doubts and reservations.
I think it shows that he is a good person.
Look at your bf and answer these questions:
- does he follow through on his commitments at work, friend relationships and family ?
- does he omit the truth from people often in order to cover his shortcomings ?
- does he often think that his problems are everyone else's fault but his ?
- does he blame you first if you bring up a sensitive issue ?
- is he often late on his bills ?
- does he forget about his appointments and doesn't cancel if he can't go?
If you answer "yes" to most of these questions, then you are right not to trust him
And it is likely that he will cause you grief.
If not, then you have a good guy.
