For some time now, as stbx's health goes downhill (often because he doesn't do things he is told will help) I am asked to put lotion on his feet and legs....rebandage any wounds.... help put on socks and shoes sometimes. I have done way too much for way too long...and the list kept growing. I am finally trying to get him used to doing for himself....not to much avail.
In the past 2 days he has fallen twice...once into the window, the other time just backwards while leaning against the couch. First time, said he lost his balance trying to get up off the bed...went to stop his fall...against the front window (He is a big guy)...Second time, said his leg gave out and lost his balance. He is up 10 lbs, said he is really not feeling well so doesn't want to drive far. So could I go pick up his script 20 minutes away after I work today? (I also had topick up a couple of things after i was done work, plus get gas.
Granted , I shoulld have just went and got it, but I was a bit annoyed. He just had the car yesterday to go to the library....so if he needed that script....Why didn't he get it then?.....Or tomorrow.....when he has a doctor's appt in Reading which he will go right passed the pharmacy? I figured it could wait anoother day. Then, I get the info about being up 10 lbs, not feeling good and not wanting to drive. This is when it occurs to me to ask if this is the water pill he is out of? and Why would he not get it yesterday if he needed it?
Of course, he has no reason to explain this so i get a very curt..."just nevermind...forget about it."
I went to work this morning worrying about having to find care for him somewhere as well as trying to get the divorce, sell the house and figure out where the hell to go myself. Then I did step back and take that breath...remembering my "baby steps" to proceed logically on my path. I am fighting the urge to not feel selfish for wanting my own life back.
I don'tknow if i will survive the "hatefulness" yet to come. God help me. :(

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

He sounds like he's guilt tripping you to stay by doing what he's doing.
Continue on your road to the happiness you deserve!! Besides doesn't he have sisters/family besides you?
Hmmm....at this point and time it occurs to me that I need to stop trying to make things better and feasible for him....and start worrying about MYSELF.
I have thrown a handful of suggestions at him...but he won't give any a simple thought. (He is kind of behaving like a sulky little kid)
Codependent that I was, I started buying him household things - to make his life easier after the divorce and so he would have furniture and necessities for when he had the kids over. He seemed grateful, and it eased some of the misplaced guilt I was feeling for initiating the divorce. Thing is, he left it all behind.. He took only some of his clothes and the few big pieces of furniture the living room in the new house was being staged with. He even asked if I could store the furniture for him - in my 1600 square foot house. Uh, no. I wasted so much time, energy and money on him, in attempts to make his new life easier, and he just wasted it. My misplaced time, energy and money. I should have directed it all back to me.
Lesson learned though is this - you shouldn't try to help someone who plays the helpless fool. Let him fall by himself. He can be a sulky little kid all he wants. My ex went back to Mommy, and he's been there 8 months. I recently asked where he stood in terms of finding a place to live, and I got the same old response he's been saying for years about everything: IDK. He has the house sale money, yet he's not adult enough to go out on his own. It's sickening, really. He's a fool and I'm done with fools.
When the person gets in touch ask for a meeting and discuss these things with your husband and the social worker
It might make it more real for your husband as well you can see what community health would be available to you presently
Does the pharmacy deliver?.... a lot of them will here..... Big hug......xo
On one hand I am trying to break away and let him worry for himself, on the other hand, he sometimes wants me to go too (but , God forbid I ask something.....wth?)
The good news is if you keep moving forward with your plans, it eventually ends because you have freed yourself. It never ends if you don’t.
