Healthy Relationships Support Group
No relationship is perfect. A long-term relationship requires constant effort to understand each other, fix misunderstandings, solve problems and continue to grow as both individuals change and evolve. How we deal with our misunderstandings is the focus of this community. Join us to find support, get advice, and share your experience with your relationship.
The way you describe why you're here is a hoot.
Half of the time I learn and grow by going back and reading my own advice to someone else!
I"ll find myself wanting to control things, wanting others to behave the way I want them to behave and think.. " didn't I give some advice to one of the peeps on this very topic?
I also don't think there are people who are always blissfully happy in their relationships. All people are flawed and have their ups and downs.
And some people who might not be in relationships at all just like to come here, perhaps out of sheer boredom and loneliness, to listen to others' woes and perhaps offer advice if they feel qualified based on past experience.
She tells our children I won't be happy until I find a replacement for her, does this mean my happiness is someone else's responsibility, and is her happiness someone else's responsibility as well?
In all of my past failed relationships I settled for anything but the best, and paid the price accordingly. 80% happiness is 20% less than ideal in my opinion, and for one to settle for it is for one who settles for incomplete happiness.
I have given up looking for my ideal partner, I do hope though that she hasn't done the same thing.
