my question to you is, how long have you been searching for a job?
the average is 6mos i have read.
i hear FL has been hit pretty hard on layoffs.
Hope all continues to go well for you.
Traditional channels, like careerbuilder and responses to newspaper classified postings led nowhere of course.
This job was a fluke: A small husband-and-wife operation, this couple called me out of the blue because their family obligations were taking them away from their business and they needed someone to pick up the slack! I had free-lanced for them in the past as a videographer, and we'd always gotten along swimmingly-! So...good karma prevails and has beared additional fruit!
Same with an additional free-lance contact I made while standing in line at the post office. It was pretty much a face-to-face "interview", right there. I explained what kind of work I do, and that I was looking for something part-time to supplement it, he explained that he was trying to grow his business, and off we went. I've since helped him in an administrative capacity in his office, shooting out e-mails, updating his website and other tasks, in addition to some pretty high-paying weekend videography gigs!
Shows you the secret is getting in front of people! The web only gets us so far.
