Healthy Relationships Support Group
No relationship is perfect. A long-term relationship requires constant effort to understand each other, fix misunderstandings, solve problems and continue to grow as both individuals change and evolve. How we deal with our misunderstandings is the focus of this community. Join us to find support, get advice, and share your experience with your relationship.
It's time hubby cuts the apron strings, mommy dearest learns where her place is and that place is not in-between you and your husband's decision making. She and the two adult daughters need to be taught that you are to be respected and not treated like dirt or they don't need to be a part of your life.
We teach people how to treat us and by tolerating MIL's behavior, she's being enabled to continue being damanding and being respectful to you and your husband.
I say good job on drawing boundaries to protect yourself and your little ones! There is a lot of unheathiness on that side of the family; guilt, shame, controlling people. It sounds like you have had to show a bunch of restraint. Time to take care of yourself, and laying it out in advance on the calendar shows good communication.
take care,
Sincerely,
Tortoise
