I like what you say about not being afraid of being alone so you're not afraid of chemistry. I am very much the same. I am fine being alone, so I don't let an intense relationship scare me away.
My dad, on the other hand, the first time he saw my mom, it was love at first sight, he knew he'd marry her some day. They were married for nearly 60 years (with six kids) before they passed away. So yeah, it can happen...
My most memorable relationships were with people with whom i felt comfortable, enjoyed their company.. Their presence in my life was mind like having a pair of your favorite shoes - your feet feel comfortable on the same old pair, but where the shoes take you is always an adventure.
These are the breaks ups that are always harder than anything else.
When you are with someone for a long time you frequently say : " remember when we went or did such and such? " They have the same memories you do, they saw want you saw, they remember you being a lot younger..
Seems like has the same effects as a drug high --very good high points with serious lows.
I do believe those less intense relationships--get to know you slowly kind of relationships are the healthiest and longest lasting and more stable.
I think some seek out chemistry because of the good side of it and don't even consider a more stable relationship --it is not intense enough for them.
Good topic.
Chemistry between two people generally happens when you have come from similar backgrounds, feel immediately comfortable with one another, the conversation flows without stops, you enjoy their company because you have so much in common, and look forward to the next meeting with excitement because the more time you spend, the stronger this chemistry grows.
I think what some have described, is a physical infatuation. It can be compared to running into someone you idolize, who for some reason, finds you as interesting and attractive as you do them. You are physically stimulated by the person to a point where you can't understand your feelings, yet give in to them freely without question, well knowing that something isn't quite right because it's happening so fast, but feels too good to stop. Only every ride comes to a stop at some point, when you eventually reflect back, you realize it was too good to last.
Relationships of this sort are often wrought with highs and lows, and as someone mentioned, it can have an addictive quality. Some are addicted to these highs and lows, and they believe it to be a necessary ingredient for a close and intimate relationship.
