Not all that different than personal ones! Two people go in with only a vague idea of what they want, then do a lot of guessing and constant communication to try and figure out what makes each other happy! Agree?

No. Business relationships are similar in many ways but detached in many other ways.

I don't know of anyone doing business with a 'vague' idea unless they were using their own Capital to finance it. As the Banks would show them the vague out-door !

Using their own capital-! I don't know who you've dealt with, Daggy, but it's been my experience that people are even MORE careful going into a business venture when they're spending their own money!

Odd that you mention banks: This project I'm working on currently is for a Credit Union. Credit Unions are a bit tighter-wadded than banks, because they don't (theoretically) keep as much profit--they pass it back to their member bankers. This credit union is certainly making sure they squeeze every last dime of work out of me! Done next week (whew)...

In the movie world (and, forgive me--I love movies), why have people like Lucas and Spielberg maintained their friendship? Because they both gave each other a clear idea of what they wanted, in explicit detail, when they went into a relationship making a movie franchise like Indiana Jones. You bet they both discussed the financial details, salaries, percentages, as well as the creative style of working (Lucas: "This has to be done like the actual serials were shot...quick and dirty, with a lot of old fashioned tricks, and not spending a lot of time on each shot." Spielberg: (after his overbudget debacle, 1941 tanked) "Perfect. That's exactly the way I want to make it."). No secrets. Spielberg has commented since that initial handshake deal that he felt like a "hired hand" in Lucas' hit machine, but he knows what he's getting into every time he works for his buddy, so they get along great! Personal relationships could learn a lot from such a business relationship.
