I am learning how to date after ending a 17yr marriage. I didn't date before him and him and I barely dated. We already knew each other. So I understand your feelings more than you know. I also have anxiety issues so I have to talk myself down before I meet someone new. In the end I chose to be myself...either they like me or they don't. So be yourself.
Just go out and enjoy the dinner, the movie.. the whatever.. just like you would if you were out with someone you know and are comfortable with.. try to take a genuine interest in your date, without running self conscious background dialogue in your own head.
It's a new experience, no pressure, just 2 people out enjoying getting to know each other.. If you can psych yourself out to get in that frame of mind... it could be fun.
Hang in there!
At the very least, youll walk away having learned something about yourself :)
I hope you have a lot of fun, making new friends can be a great adventure!
