I loved her (or thought I did at one time), but, as much as I love a lot of things ABOUT HER (her soothing calm, her elegance, her soft beauty)...NO, I don't love her, nor does she me, but we're enjoying each other anyway...at my age (43), I'm too old to start a family anyway, and not even sure if I'm cohabitation material (or haven't met someone I want to cohabitate WITH) so maybe this is what I need, a really cool girlfriend to date (!).

The only rule is, we've already agreed that, if we meet someone else, we'll tell the other. She seems cool with it, as am I.

Sometimes this situation is setting yourself up to get hurt. I mean yes, live for the moment. But it seems you like her a little more than your telling...... the description of her sounds like more than "like." I also would'nt say you're too old to start a family, because a family could be you and someone else or you and someone else that has kids. And you never know you could meet "the one" tomorrow or so could she. good luck to you.

I am separated from my husband...but we still have a great relationship...We will always be together even if apart...I would describe him as my perfect partner...but not living together all the time...Apart we have got a fantastic loving relationship...He is my best male friend...

My bf and I went on a 'break' 7 months ago. I no longer feel the way i use to for him, I have told him this and he understands. We take what time we have to see each other, its hard to just be friends but at this point in our lives we arent complaining about what we have.

We never discuss the future or that dreaded "L" word. At the same time we need eachother right now and are the perfect people for eachother Right Now. Who knows if things may grow or fizzle.

It is inevitable that someone will get hurt because it seems like there is always one person in the relationship that:

1) feels more for the other person than they realize
2) feels more for the other person, realizes it but keeps it a secret
3) realizes they want more than the other person can ever provide but now they are attached to the other

At this point in my 3 month companionship/transition friendship relationship I am starting to be the person that feels more than I realized I did.
So when it ends I will end up hurt. It was worth it though because this friendship helped me heal.

Thanks, MD. I guess a "lukewarm friendship with some bennies" (and no drama) is better than a red-hot sexual/romantic romp with tons of anger, hurt and jealousy-! I dunno, starting to crave the latter, but I know it won't be with THIS woman.
