I guess the first feedback I would give is to challenge you to define what you mean by "healthy eating habits"...for example, I try to stay off sugar and flour, and drink more water, and keep up my iron intake, but I don't attempt to watch out for or track my fat intake in any way. Some people may consider drinking juice to be healthy, but with me trying to stick to lower carb and higher fiber and low glycemic index, I can't do that--I'd rather eat the actual fruit and have water to drink to help fill up. Eating this way works best for me and my health conditions, and I feel my best when I stick with that way of eating, in addition to making it possible for me to lose a hundred pounds. You have a goal in mind for where you want to be, but can you choose some specifics to help you--and us--know if you are eating "healthier"? Are you planning to make certain substitutions, or giving up certain kinds of "junk" food?
I think for so many it is the emotional aspect of eating that can be a downfall. We eat when we are bored or unhappy or frustrated or tired. Good job working to identify those times when you are eating but not actually hungry. I know that for me, weekends are much more relaxed than weekdays, and those are the times that I find myself thinking about food, even when I'm not hungry, but just out of habit.
Overall, though, in choosing healthier foods, it's easier to think of eating as a way to get nutrition in, rather than a way to deal with emotions.
I have kids 6 and 4 and work part time as well. Staying out of the fridge can be tough..but we have plenty to do to keep us busy and we need to focus on that
Three years ago, I was able to drop all dairy, wheat, and sugar and processed foods and I went from an unhealthy 155 to a svelt 125. It was amazing. And, then, the winter came and I had to get a part-time job and I started losing sleep, etc. All down hill from there.
I'd love to be able to check in with people. Any ideas for an online resource for food journaling? That also helped me lose the pounds (after my second child) three years ago.
