You didn't mention what brand kit you bought? There are so many on the market these days. It's great that you are doing it with him, it's much easier to succeed with the support of your family and friends. Good for you!
I don't personally have experience with boxed cleanses, so I can't give you any insight there. Are you making efforts to improve your diet in combination with the cleanse? It's best to take small steps towards a healthier lifestyle, if you try to incorporate a whole new routine it can often lead to failure. Baby steps!
There is no point at all to use a cleanse to rid your body of toxins if you are just going to turn around after the 7 days and pour more toxins into you.
Is he still drinking all the diet drinks now? he must work on his addiction to the soft drinks and then work on cleaning out the toxins from his body.
A good approach would be for you to find him some healthier replacement for the diet drinks. Both of you will feel better just by drinking more water every day, and water is free!
In the past I have done a few cleanses, but noticed no difference because I was already eating clean.
If you truly want to do a good cleanse, you should get the Wild Rose 12day Dtox kit. I warn you though, there is a specific diet that goes along with the kit. If a food item is not in their list of allowed foods, you can't eat if for the duration of the cleanse.
This cleanse is NOT easy, especially if you are eating foods that are not included in the list of foods. I had a horrible time giving up my coffee, but I did discover tons of great herbal teas.

Do try it; you will feel better for eliminating the banned food items.
You will find that you were most likely bloated and that bloated feeling will be gone by the end of the 12 days.
To this day, I follow much of the food list in the cleanse kit because I do feel better, but I don't bother with the herbal cleanse kit.
We have cut back on all junk food...not eating out.
I have been doing this for my self gradually over the last few weeks for my own well being. I have cut back on the cokes almost enitrely with maybe 1 or 2 a week. I drink water, coffee, and juice.
As far as the cleanse it was the GNC brand and I can tell a bit of a difference in how I feel. I dont feel as bloated or sluggish.
I am glad that the cleanse is making you feel better. I have a feeling that the more a body needs to be cleansed, the more you will feel a reaction to the cleanse.
See if you can cut back on his soft drinks so that he gets down to your 1 or 2 a week; that would be great.
Start preparing now for after your cleanse. Take a look at the food list at the site I sent you; the foods on that list will help you keep down the bloating feeling.
All that the cleanse has done is to artificially assist your body to expel toxins and waste. You need to start eating more foods that will keep the foods moving through your body and not hanging around a long time inside you.
Lots of fruist and veggies will help you a great deal.
Here is from an article I picked up in 2006 about what is healthiest and more nutrient dense.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eat freely from vegetables, legumes, and fruits (1-6 from the list below). They are highest in nutrient density and lowest in caloric density. Fill unmet caloric needs mostly from grains (7), use nuts and seeds sparingly (8), and either eliminate or significantly limit the use of animal products and all refined grains, oils, and sweets (9-12).
1. Leafy green vegetables (romaine lettuce, red and green leaf lettuce, kale, bok Choy, collards, spinach, Swiss chard, parsley, turnip greens, and sprouted legumes and grainsthey become leafy greens)
2. Solid green vegetables (artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, celery, kohlrabi, okra, snow peas, string beans, zucchini, etc.)
3. Non-green, non-starchy vegetables (beets, peppers, cauliflower, eggplant, raw carrots, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, etc., and all uncooked starchy vegetables.)
4. Beans/legumes (all varieties of beans, lentils, and peas)
5. Fresh fruits (all varieties, in their season)
6. Starchy vegetables (cooked carrots, corn, chestnuts, parsnips, potatoes, pumpkins, and hard winter squashes)
7. Whole grains (amaranth, barley, brown rice, buckwheat, kammut wheat, millet, oats, spelt, wild rice, quinoa, etc.)
8. Raw nuts and seeds (almonds, cashews, filberts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, walnuts, etc.)
9. Animal products (fish, wild meats and fowl, red meat, milk, eggs, etc.)
10. Refined grains (white flour and other processed grain products)
11. Refined oils (esp. GMO oils such as corn, canola and soy, any fried or deep fried foods. Never eat oils that have over-heated and smoked, they cause cancer)
12. Refined sweets (sugars, cookies, candies, soda, anything made with high fructose corn syrup or white or brown sugar)
Here are guidelines for how much of each group to consume daily, the first recommendation is for Health Maintenance. The second is for Maximum Healing and Weight Loss.
I disagree on the no added salt. I believe that Real Salt is healing to the body, as it is full of minerals. I have not mastered this diet. I'm still trying to get that many veggies down! I enjoy fruit.
Remember, take baby steps. Don't think you have to change everything all at once. Work in the direction of these suggestions and you'll start to feel better. If you have to eat something bad for you, eat it, but don't stop moving in the direction of a better diet. Be nice to yourself. Don't give up on yourself. You are worth it! You are loved!
