Healthcare at the expense of Welfare

belistiwa
The costs of healthcare have spiraled out of control. It is the old story, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
How can it be justified to charge an enormous fee for a consultation because the doctor you are seeing doesn't know what he's looking at?
Last year, I got poison ivy in my tear duct. My face swelled up, and I got scared. I went to my doctor, who took one look and decided that I had a rare infection, which she told me was going to run down my optic nerve into my brain.
This, as you can imagine, scared the begebers out of me (and you need your begebers), so when she told me to go to the emergency room, I went. They performed no tests to determine that I actually had an infection, but put me on a course of IV antibiodics and made me spend the night.
In the morning, after a horrible, sleepless night, the swelling was worse (and painful), because I did not have an infection at all. It was an alergic reaction to the poison ivy. The doctor came into my room and told me that they were finally going to consider the possibility that I was right in the first place, and he gave me some benedril.
If I had had to pay the bill out of pocket, it would have bankrupt me. It was over $4,000, more than I had or could get at the time.
And they were wrong.
Any other profession, if the job isn't performed correctly you don't pay the guy. Yet if a doctor fails, you still get a bill so big that if you don't have insurance, or a heck of alot of money in the bank, it can break you.
There are altogether too many people in this country that cannot finanacially survive even the smallest illness. Speaking as one of those people, I find it hard to tolerate.
This country was founded on the principal of a government for the people and by the people. Nowhere in that was it stated that it was for the rich people by the rich people. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, because the poor is where the rich get their money from.
If we are truely a country where all "men" are equal, we need to do something to equalize the disparity.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
And these people could care less about abortion or gay rights but they do care about immigration because it represents cheap labor and the rich get richer when they can pay less for illegal workers. In the case of illegal immigrants the only thing that makes sense is going after the employers (the rich). My rant, my $.02.
