I\'m feeling a little down and scared. For the most part I\'ve been feeling pretty good the last 6 months and have gone on with my life since learning about the Hep C. I decided that since I was at a stage 1 grade 1 progression that I would not do the TX at this time. I had my 6 month blood work done in December and my enzymes were normal except my ALT was 2 points higher then they should. My Dr. said that she wasn\'t the least concerned about it.
This past week I was extremely tired, much more so than usual and now my stomach is bothering me. I have this pain on my right side, its like a dull ache. It\'s more annoying then anything and I\'m bloated! I went to the Dr and she said that she\'d like to have an ultra sound of my liver, pancreas and gallbladder. Now I\'m really nervous.
Do any of you suffer from stomach problems? Bloating? Gas? pain/cramping? I\'m second guessing myself on whether or not I should suck it up and do the treatment.
Please someone help me pick myself back up, because I\'m really at the bottom right now.
Well I have to say that since I've stopped the coffee with cremora and replaced it with green tea, started juicing and keeping my diet light the pain has subsided. Yesterday was the best I've felt in about a month. I'm so Thankful!!
As far a gallstones how do you know that you've passed them? Are they actual stones?
Right on, sister, glad to hear that you've alleviated the pain. Mine started recently when I made a batch of organic chocolate chip cookies! OW! Too much fat and sugar, and I gained 5 pounds and felt bloated!
Maybe it was the coffee, I hope so.
About gallstones;
Gall stones are not really stones at all. They look like stones but are soft in texture, they can be smashed between your fingers. But when you're passing one, it's hard to believe they're not made out of iron. They are green if coming out of your gall bladder, but can be tan, black or brown if coming from your liver. On the net I've read about them being analysed by a few sources, most people agree they are composed of cholesterol.
You know you've passed one when the pain goes away. You know you've got one stuck when you are in excrutiating pain. If you're having mild to moderate pain on the right side just under the top of the center ribs and indeed you are passing stones. They are probably obstructing the exit of the gall bladder, therefore creating pressure on the gallbladder. I've experienced pain like that and it was usually followed by excrutiating pain. I had blood work done before and after passing stones. Passing stones the hard way will send your liver enzimes sky high (alt, ast, ect.). Passing stones the way I do (naturally) does not affect the liver enzimes (actually it lowered mine). You should also know, just because you passed one and you are not feeling any more pain, does not mean they are gone. Be assurred if you are passing stones you've got more than one (be assurred you have many).
Thanks so much for all of the great information. The information on the gall stones is amazing! It's amazing how your body could produce these this stones and more amazing that you could pass them out naturally.
I have to say that I've been feeling much better since make those few adjustments. Thanks everyone!!
Hi Lisa. I haven't been on here for many months. I just had to look everyone up tonight and see what's been goin on with everyone. Pain in your right side just below the ribcage is normal. I think we all have it. I too take Percocet, but the generic name is oxycodone which is what I take. My doc says that it is okay to take with my liver condition. Maybe you need to talk to your doc about getting on a mood elevator/ anti depressant. Most of us with hep C are on one kind or another. I take Effexor. It works best for me. Drinking lots of water is key to optimum liver health. Pain meds such as percoset cause constipation. All narcotics do. Make sure to eat lots of fiber. One good way to help with constipation is to buy Post Grape Nuts, or generic nutty nuggets cereal, and pour them over yogurt. The yogurt softens those rock hard grape nuts, and I like eating them that way rather than in a bowl of milk. That will surely loosen those bowels. Another way is to eat cooked spinach, or collard greens, or wilted lettuce. Hope this helps. Nice to meet you! Cathie
