I am so confused about how to take herbs so that my body absorbs them. THe Liv 52 says "Take before meals." Does this mean right before a meal so the digestive process from the food helps? Or does it mean on an empty stomach, which could be between meals. If before, how much before?
I'm also taking a bronchial blend for my bronchitis. It says "Take after meals." WEll, it tastes vile. Can I save a bit of dinner to take after to kill hte taste? Or does food after it interfere somehow? Or do I just need food in my stomach when I take it.?
Brigid great question....My answer is I do not have a clue,I take the Heptech protocal and i take them 30 minutes after I eat...thats just my theory it allows the food to go down first and allow the capsules to do their job..
Thats the way I take them but who knows?
some bottles say to take on an empty stomach and some say to take with meals. If it says take before meals, that is confusing. generally taking on an empty stomach means 1/2 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal. I guess I would contact the manufacturer and ask for clarification on those two bottles.
I am learning as i go and have been changing things as i learn.
some of them I have read is magnesium, selenium, lactoferrin (apolactoferrin), chlorella, Vit c, and sam-e are to be taken on an empty stomach or 1/2 hour before a meal as food will interfere with absorbtion or in the case with vit c, so iron absorbtion won't be a problem.
Any of the rest after a meal for better absorbtion. Sublingual, dosn't matter as it goes striaght to the bloodstream.
So much to learn and new things coming out all the time.
Life extensions seem to have a good guideline on products. they do alot of their own research. I bet their are alot of other websites that can offer info.
Contacting manufacturer, wow thanks Makiah, great idea.
I wrote to the Liv 52 people and am waiting to hear back. As for the "take after a meal" herb, I'm going to assume it means that it absorbs better w/food in the stomach already, not that I can't take a mouthful after to quell the taste.

doesn't that add to the confusion.
Todd the owner of Heptech suggests straight after you eat,but his reasoning is so that it will not prevent an upset stomach.
