I've been trying to minimize my disappointment about being offered the all oral TX, only to have it taken away by my insurance ending and the dr. not taking any of the new plans. I guess I didn't want to admit to myself how that sucks, and I didn't want to post it here and start another series of "Obama sucks and Obamacare will ruin the country" posts. (For the record, I think health care for everyone is a great idea, even if it's not working for me personally.) Now I read about how kale (kale! The veggie that scores the highest number on that nutritional value scale, along with brocolli, which my kids and I eat every day) can be bad for you. I just want to crawl into bed.
I do think it's interesting, though, that I stopped putting kale in my smoothies. I felt an aversion at the thought, though I love it steamed. Maybe the "problem" with kale is that Americans are so compulsive -- now that kale is the hot, cure-everything food, people are consuming massive quantities of it. I guess the only option is to do enough yoga to become a breatharian, as long as one doesn't breathe any air from China.
My one hopeful thing (and I offer this to everyone here) is that yogic wisdom says shoulder stand supports the thyroid. Put blankets or a mat under your shoulders to take pressure off your neck if you're over 40. I do 7 min. every morning, so hopefully that is enough to counteract the kale? It still seems a bit surreal to think of needing to mitigate the harmful effects of green vegetables.
Brigid - I am soo sorry. Hang in there, ledaspivir is coming!
Kale can also be hard to digest raw. If you "marinate" it in vinegar (I use apple cider vinegar for other health advantages and it tastes good) it can then be easily digested.
Sorry, but time got away from me for awhile, I haven't been getting notices of replies like before to remind me.
Yes, Brigid, that was my weak joke, you know how they say that eggs are bad one year, then good the next, and bad again.
If kale in fact is a problem, it may be because of iron(?) So I would think once in awhile would be okay.
