I am supposed to do this as part of my treatment, but I tried and left a giant, painful bruise. How does one get a good angle while reaching around? Any tips?
I get one every other day. I get it with an insulin needle.Smaller than the ones we got with TX . You can do it in your thigh, arm or butt. I prefer the butt because I don't feel it later. No Big deal. If you lay down you can reach around and give it to yourself.
I've had an awful time with this. I've only done it twice -- once I did it, once my husband did. Each time I was in pain for days after. My whole hip was stiff and achy. Every movement hurt. Not great since I rely on exercise and yoga to feel good. There's something else in the shot, and the whole thing is 3 cc's of thick goop, from a very long needle. It sounds like just B12 doesn't have side effects, right?
I only use the methylcobalamin or dibencozide forms of B12, as they are more easily absorbed. I also eat the very occasional small bit of fish, egg or butter, to get naturally the B12. I'm pretty sure that spirulina and chlorella have natural B12 in them.
If you do another shot, try a heating pad and massage on the injection site and the surrounding muscle of the injection. It sounds like your muscle is inflaming in a similar way to what happens with over exercise. You also might want to take some Wobenzyme or similar proteolytic enzyme to break up the injection so it doesn't form a lump that causes inflammation. Also, do a meditation and welcome the B12 into your body, and do light massage that sends it to the other cells in your body.
