Hi Friends,
I am a 29 year old mother of two. over the last three years I have experience many health problems. Today I came across some test results that puzzled me and I am hoping that someone here can tell me their experiences and see if I could be suffering from this disease. I will start off by saying that I know I carry a gene for thyroid disease ( which is what I was told around 4 years ago ) Before I got pregnant with my son my thyroid levels were borderline for hypothyroidism, but became normal after I had him. 6 months after I gave birth to my son I began having horrible joint pain, I shook it off thinking maybe my joints and hips were hurting because of the pregnancy. When my son was 1.5 I went to see my doctor complaining of shortness of breath and feeling very lethargic, he told me I was fine and sent me on my way. Then two days later I was hospitalized for 4 bilateral pulmonary embolisms. I had also ask this doctor to check me for rheumatoid arthritis, and he refused saying I was too young to have r.a. I spent 8 days in the hospital and a year on blood thinners because of the pulmonary embolisms. In December of 2012 I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, I have been on three medications two times a day for that since then. Over the last year and half I have gained over 25 pounds and felt so fatigued and lethargic, with very painful joints and muscles. I know from a scan on my thyroid around 5 years ago that I have nodules on my thyroid. WELL, today after visiting my doctor she wants me to have my thyroid checked again, and while I made my appointment at the lab online I was reminded of an app. for my phone called " Gazelle " I had this back when I went to my " idiot doctor " and read my old blood test results. My t3 & T4 were all in normal range but my Thyroidglobulin ab WAS AT 87, and apparently normal is 0-20. These results are from 2011. I am wondering if I have a thyroid problem, I remember asking " idiot doctor " what those high results mean and he said " they dont mean anything, a sign of a thyroid problem would be in the 100 or above. " Is he correct in this statement? I have a hard time believing anything he said because he was wrong on two major diagnosis. I have read the symptoms of hashimotos and I literally have every single symptom and they have been getting much worse over the last year. I am open to any and all advice and suggestions and I go on Friday to have my thyroid checked again.

It is easily tested for. Find a different doctor and ask them to check you for it. It is a blood test, and the antibodies are present and you have it or they aren't and you don't. Good luck!

Definitely find a new doctor - STAT! You may want to see an endocrinologist for your thyroid.

I went through the same thing. After I had my first son I had really bad joint pain, tired all time, muscle spasms, terrible migraines and allergies like crazy! All my docs said that tests came back normal. 3yrs later when I was pregnant with my second son I became very sick. I actually lost weight during the first 3 months of pregnancy and then at 3.5 months I started having contractions and elevated blood pressure. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and put on strict bed rest for 5 months. I was so miserable, in and out of the hospital. Went to the ER twice with terrible chest pain. Tested positive for blood clots and had a high white blood cell count. Spent a week in the hospital after my son was induced a month early and never fully recovered. Constant aches and pains, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, stomach problems, dizzy, forgetful the list goes on and on. Over the next 3 years I saw specialist after specialist and was always told the same thing, that I was fine. Finally had a neurologist notice my giant thyroid sticking out of my neck and got an ultrasound, it was enlarged, deformed and had several nodules. My doc ran blood work on my levels ans they came back normal so they brushed it under the rug. I finally had an allergist test me for autoimmune diseases and it came back hashimoto's. Finally got in to see and endocrinologist and now my nodes have grown and spread to my lymph nodes/parathyroid so im getting biopsies to test for cancer next month. The rode to a hashimoto's diagnosis is long and hard...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
