Candida. Candida albicans, a yeastlike fungus which reproduces by budding and is generally found in trace amounts in the mouth, skin, intestinal tract, and vagina of normal individuals. Candida is the organism most commonly associated with mycotic (yeast or fungus) infections. Such infections are referred to as candidiasis. Ordinarily, the growth of this fungus is kept in check by the immune system and by the beneficial bacteria of the body or flora.

Candida can cause thrush in the mouth and athlete's feet.

Does anyone else have more information on this subject? Does anyone know of treatments and/or precautions to prevent infections of Candida?

I have been looking on the internet for information on candida. Apparently, I may have had it myself for year without know exactly what the problem was. This disease can cause people to crave the very food that feeds it, including pastas and breads. So I'm going to remove macaroni & cheese as a supplement from my diet, along with avoiding bread as much as possible, and not eating pizza, which has large amounts of yeast.

I could be all wrong about the way I am going about this. Can anyone set me straight?
