Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) Support Group
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), is an acquired immune-mediated inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nervous system (i.e. not the brain or spinal cord). It is suggested that it is an autoimmune disease, in which the sufferer's immune system is triggered into damaging the nerve covering. Many cases developed in people who received the 1976 swine flu vaccine.

I have GBS since Feb 2021...I have heard mixed emotions from doctors...so I still don't know if I can get the shot. My family has theirs...but I'm scared to get mine.

I had GBS last March and am currently in recovery. I received both doses of the phizer vaccine and am doing good. I consulted with my doctors prior to receiving it, they said I should be fine. I haven’t had any issues.

Ajsweet6357, how are you doing? I'd be so happy if we could talk with one another.

I have had GBS in 2011, relapsed in 2015. I also have Lupus and celiac. My neurologist and doctor both feel for ME and my personal health history it is a definite NO. I think it truly is unique to EACH person and his healthcare provider/s AND their choice. I have horrible reactions to many things and they felt as it’s over 99% survival rate, the risk is NOT worth the jab. It’s not a one size fits all. Make the best choice for you, Be kind

I first got GBS in 1993, and have had it relapse several times over the years to different degrees. I have never risked the Flu shot and do not want to be forced to get the Covid vaccine. If I weigh what happened to me with GBS initially and thereafter, I would rather take the risk with Covid19 than willingly inject a vaccine that could possibly cause a relapse of GBS. I think for someone that has never personally experienced GBS to make this an requirement is wrong and they have no idea how GBS impacted some of us. It should be a personal decision and one we are allowed to make as an individual.

I have it too. Got it from a flu shot in 1986 I was told I could no longer get any kind of shots for it could start it all over again. And I have Meniere`s disease too. am going to have a bracelet made saying what I have on it I will not take any more shots And all so problems swallowing food and my eyes water like am crying. .when I eat still have movement under my feet like something moving around. It just never ends. They found it by doing spinel taps 4 of them and it was around the time of the swine flu.
