Men have smaller, but denser thyroid glands then women. So the RAI can not work the first or second time. Since that's hard to live through, in my opinion, I alawys think men should skip the second or third RAI and just go straight for surgery as long as they have insurance to help them financially.
Graves' is extra hard on men that have a family to support. I had enough trouble taking care of myself.
I'm so sorry to hear things are rough for both you and your son right now.
Sometimes all a parent can do with a grow child is continue to love them during their difficult times.
