So we took the dreaded trip to the City. Lesson learned. Just because they are City doctors they are not always better.( Not true in our past experiences but hey, you live and learn.)

I had a page of questions about how she treats. I wasn't impressed. I asked her if she takes how her patients are feeling into consideration. (She said of course but her actions spoke for her.) I told her the past 2 months my hair has been shedding. She said that will cycle out. That should only last 3 months she said. I was like huh....

I asked her if she would do the Trab test and TSI to determine if I was in remission. I couldn't pay attention to her explanation all heard was the end sentence saying so it doesn't matter it.

SO .. she wants me to re check my labs in 6 weeks and then will send in another lab for blood work another 6 weeks after and then a re check in 6 months. I'm really bummed. I m giving her a chance but I don't think she was right for me.

Is she going to check the FT3, FT4, and TSH? If no on the Free Ts, I would not see her.

I always try to find out prior to my appts with any new doctor if both Free Ts would be checked, if no, I wouldn't keep the appt.

Good idea about checking before. She did say that she dosed off of TSH. She is Checking my TSH in my bloodwork, my T3MNEM T3, Free T4, Vitamin D, Ferritin and Iron.

She said she would check my T4's (for me) not so sure if she would normally check the T4's but she knew that was important to me.

It is too bad that this doctor is dosing off of the TSH. It only tells me that she doesn't understand that when one has positive thyroid antibodies, that the TSH numbers is going to be skewed.

She would do well if she were to read, research, and study all the articles posted by many different thyroid doctors in the thyroidmanager.org.

Bummer Tricia... Another tip you could do is ask if the possible doctor prescribes armour. Granted, you probably don't need armour right now or possible ever, but if a doctor is open to that, they may be more progressive in thyroid disease treatment. You can also ask a local pharmacy if any physicians give that medication... It may give you a hint as to where a good doc may be.
Frustrating to not find a doc but keep on looking and educating yourself- you're doing awesome!
