I just wrote to our new member HotGrandma, and now realize maybe some of you other new people might find my list worthwhile, so I'm going to copy and paste it here for you.

First I'll give you a good list of resources.
First this older class our mentor did years back. Some of the antibody information has now been added to, but the facts are still the same, and this is laid out so you can bookmark it and go back at different times and find the chapter you want then.
Since it is older, we had to dig it up by way of the WayBack Machine. It may take longer to load the first time.

Next Elaine Moore is the person that has done the most for Graves' patients and she has a web site now with many articles. At the end of each article you will find resources to verify and continue research on that subject. What Elaine dose for us is help us understand in plain English, so we can then more easily understand the medical journal articles.

As a group we have over time, rather sporadically saved reputable links we find valuable over in the Graves' General Group. That is not a conversation area, just a list of links. It happens right now you will see my name as the top contributor, but this also changes over time. I just happen to be paying attention right now since I lost all my files when my old computer went poof !

I know, reading and the eyes..but I did find I could find better eye moments sometimes, and read bits and pieces, enough to get by. With books it seems now everybody and their brother thinks a thyroid book will sell, so I want to show you what I believe is the best to get started. Learn correctly first, then later read all of them when you choose or not, and be able to laugh, cry, and pick out the errors.
The basics and good, correct info about Graves' too. Dr Rubin has tuned out to be a good Graves' doctor according to those who have seen him, and is a nice guy too. From what we've seen, he seems to have a good understanding of our antibodies and ATD dosing.

All of these should be at your library, or through inter-library loan. If you can find used copies at the better price, so much the better. They are all reference books you will want as time goes on.
When looking at these on Amazon, you will see Mary Shomon's hyperthyroid book heavily pushed and the cheapest one there. Please do not buy this early on. It has so many errors, and some horrible, you would learn incorrectly from the start, and unlearning is harder than starting out right. Following some of what's said in that book can cause HUGE problems.

When we ordered our first copies we had to go to the book publisher, order, then they printed them. It's called 'on demand' publishing. Save a tree, and good for their business bottom line.
The minute it arrived at my door, I rushed to my big chair and went straight to the back of the book, reading all the personal stories of my friends. Cool huh ? And I remember not being alone having to work through what seemed like really complicated stuff I had bypassed up until then. Having it in book form was a big plus for the way I learn things. I need to go back several times on lots of things.

About the book....that must've been cool reading your stories in the book. I got mine from the library but odds are I'll buy the next one.
