Graves' Disease Support Group
Graves-Basedow disease is a medical disorder that may manifest several different conditions including hyperthyroidism (over activity of thyroid hormone production), infiltrative exophthalmos (protruberance of one or both eyes and associated problems) and infiltrative dermopathy (a skin condition usually of the lower extremities). This disorder is the most common cause of...
Good luck and let us know how that goes for you.
{{{hugs}}} :-)
Truthfully I think the 20 was too much for me to begin with but original dr argued that I cannot be sensitive to meds - new Dr agreed I take less then most people as the liver and wbc went out of whack - they are in line now. My regular Dr laughs and says you are the only person I know that can take a whif of something called medicine and that would be enough - always prescribes way less then the normal amounts for me. that;s why he said lets not wait 8 weeks - and he was right - glad I got the labs done now
Can't imagine where I'd been at 8 weeks with the 10 mg.....scary...
I just don't want to go any lower and I'm hoping this isn't still too strong.
My endo takes the sloooooooow approach and after 20MG I went to 15mg (7.5mg bid). I am sitting out the ride for 4 weeks (2 more to go) and see what it does. I think I am still hyPO although I have problems sleeping, have anxiety and irritable. I feel overall better though, although by far not normal. Apperantly these symptoms sort of overlap. It is encouraging though, to feel better a bit. It seems that the advice here "go slow, go steady" seems to be a sound one. I hope that with all our diagnostic similarities you are on the same road as me: Starting to feel better!!!!

I find it hard to keep up with everybody on this board, even tough I would like but I would love to "buddy up" with you and follow your progress since we seem to be in the same spot right now with the same activites we love being taken away from us. Maybe we can encourage eachother.
If you tell me that you live in Eastern WA I am going to think it is a little freaky... LOL
I am not a stalker and not particular religious but I was praying for someone to share my events with. I soooo need a like minded person.
I think I totally hijacked this post of yours with my needs and wants, I am so sorry, but I think it is so cool to "run into you" here. Just ignore me if you think I am weird, I think so too (LOL) but I am REALLY a 38 year old woman with a hubby and a kid and a dog and 7 tents and a 3 backpacks.
Okay I will stop hijacking this post now .... Sorry everyone, hope you still take me serious! LOL
I have never felt bad and although I shelved the actual competions for the remainder of the year, I still train with the exception of the running which I just readded. I found swimming was my exercise of choice, well actually it always is in the summer and I have access to a 50 meter pool locally so an hour swim most days of the week has been what I chose to do as well as continue to train for backpacking and biking. I actually feel great - sleep is another issue and has been almost all of my life so until the numbness subsides, it's going to be a challenge.
I am hoping the 5 mg will actually "raise" FT4 closer to 1 and then can work towards mid range and hang out there and see how it goes.
I am a believer that continuing with what was "normal" for me has helped with exercise, etc. I had lost 100# previously - on purpose - not because of the Graves - which is a whole other topic -- they don't look for "hyper" symptoms in the obese...ahhem....So the food has been a way of life for quite a while and yes, I do agree with Elaine Moore that food and environment are huge triggers. Stress is the #1 for me and it isn't always job related....in 2007
which was less then a banner year - is when everything started when I look back at the labs - that year - we lost 2 family members to cancer, my husband lived with a burst appedix for 7 mos, an infant nephew was diagnosed with a heart defect and passed in 2008 and I was trying to work a full time job, a home based business, deal with "life" and diet/exercise - gee do you see any triggers????
I think if we all really look at our history, there are definite patterns in place that go way beyond the last straw that triggered everything.
Sorry to be so lengthy...... Have a fabulous day everyone!
