Hi Everyone....
Well, I just had a colonoscopy yesterday, moved my mom from the hospital to nursing home rehab for a broken hip and working full time, etc so life is pretty stressful. Between the prep for the procedure and the stress I am having hyper symptoms and I'm in between doctors don't see
my new one until next week. BP is fine but heartrate is in the upper 70's and low 80's which is high for me; unable to sleep; feel full of energy; and a few mood swings. I have been taking 1.88 mg of MMI so upped it
to 2.5 to see if that will help. I can't take beta blockers so I am open to any
suggestions - been doing yoga, will be back to my "normal" healthy diet
tomorrow - have to stay on soft foods for today as they removed a polyp.
I tried herb tea, lemonbalm tea and not much luck. Just wait it out?
Oh yeah have a dentist appt on Thurs which is usually no big deal but
given the week....who knows....HA I appreciate the help

Did you get put out while having the procedure done? If so, what med was used? It might have had an affect on your GD.

Then it could be stress for the things going on in your life right now...

I started feeling hyper on Sunday during the prep and afterward. It was worse on Monday before the procedure and continued afterward. They did give me meds for possible nausia which i normally get - they did an iv drip for the procedure which puts you out but lightly with a quick wake up. The nurse did say that the nausia meds could make me jittery and yes Dr was aware of the graves. I asked him if the prep could activate the hyper and he said maybe mentally but not physically - well that wasn't quite right when you look at what's in gatorade plus the prep is physically stressful. So MMZ you are probably right a combo of things. I'm actually feeling a little better this afternoon. Actually getting a bit tired. Do you think a few days at the higher dose of 2.5 vs 1.88 would be ok? Don't see Dr until Apr 6 and imagine he'll pull labs then.

I should think a few days on the higher doses of MMI should be fine and then you can go back to normal. So sorry you had to suffer like that. I avoid Gatorade and drink the natural one from the health food stores called Recharge by Knudsen's.

Hope your labs didn't get skewed by the Colonscopy.

Thanks Laura. I'm feeling better this afternoon - almost sleepy. :))
I knew better too about the Gatorade just wasn't paying attention until it was the weekend and couldn't call. I have a natural electrolyte product that I use from Hammer as in no added sugar but wasn't bright enough to use until it was after the fact and I realized the results. I never thought about the colonoscopy affecting the labs - guess we'll see next week. gulp....:))

Did they use a iodine based sterilant? When I had my eye surgery I told them that I could not have iodine but they used it anyway. It pushed my levels up pretty high for almost 2 weeks. They did come down on there own but it was a bit scary for a while. I had the heart palps, pulse and anxiety for those 2 weeks... Big Hugs...Kathy

Kathy, Thanks for the info - I didn't even think to ask those questions. All the things we learn after the fact huh? I am better today - getting some sleep helped tons....:))) Still have the stress of mom in the nursing home with the broken hip but that will be on going for a while.
Will try to go back to my normal meds of 1.88 from the 2.5 today and see how it goes. HR seems better today but will double check before making any more changes. Ought to be interesting appt with new Dr next week, hope he'll take everything into consideration before the labs are pulled and we have results. I don't want to be changing things because of a brief period of time.

One thing about the MMi's, they do work faster than replacement meds. A sign of feeling sleepy may mean you probably can go back on the dose you were on. That used to happen to me sometimes not long after I took my dose. I would think for sure, the stress made you feel like this. It happens to me and my labs actually do change. I've swung more hypo now, so it's different for me on replacement and actually harder to control. You should be fine.
