Hi folks!
Those who know me are aware of the fact that I've been doing very well for a long time on Mylan generic levothyroxine and Paddock Labs liothyronine (generic Cytomel).
While my first 3 endos and now-former GP had no idea how to treat thyroid disease, I was very fortunate to partner with my current doctor, an internist, by the time I went hypo.
I met her one month after I entered remission from Graves' and, she seemed promising during our one-hour first appointment - especially when she said "We know to ignore TSH in Graves' Disease".
Well, she has really proven to be quite thyroid-savvy.
Not only did she offer Cytomel before I even knew I needed it, she understands that I should always get the same manufacturer's product for the generics I take.
And, after I presented her with my symptoms/labs journal, she accepted my determination of my optimal levels and adjusted my dose to maintain them.
As I was going about my business today, I was remarking to myself about how great I feel.
Well, her office called with my latest labs:
FreeT4 1.84 (.82-1.76)
FreeT3 4.7 (2.0-4.4)
TSH .0006
While I've had a similar FreeT4 level in the past, this is the second time my FreeT3 went a bit over-range and is the highest it's ever been.
Some people might feel hyper with these levels but, again, I'm feeling awesome.
My doctor actually told me I could stay on my current doses as long as I continue to feel well.
Now, THAT's a doctor that can think outside the box - yay!!!
I just had to share this good news :)
So, to all of you who are still struggling to find Dr. Right, please know that it is worth every effort. I am living proof.

My doctor's medical assistant was surprised to hear me say that my doctor's care is better than the care I received from a specialist.
I think your idea about contacting the manufacturer of Erfa is a great way to find a thyroid-savvy doctor.
We need more of them, for sure!!!
