med for mood swings

Anyone take or know of a med that would be good for irritability/mood swings. I'm not sure depression or anxiety is related, but I'm starting to wonder if I should ask for something for the mood swings/irritability.

Are you taking ATDs? Are your levels OK? The meds are supposed to bring thyroid levels within normal ranges, in turn minimizing Graves symptoms (irritability/mood swings/rages). Personally, I wouldn't want to add medication for mood swings (even if there were any) if the underlying reason is Graves.

I had terrible rages before RAI, with throwing things around. I don't know how my husband survived. Nuked that thing, thanks god.

I read a bit on your profile - I got the "thyroditis" (Graves in fact) when my youngest was 8 months old, too. The oldest was just under 2.5. Three months later after Dx did RAI. Yes, I was thinking of the third baby, too (though I'm an older parent). But when I had 2 toddlers, I definitely didn't want a third in the mix LOL. After surviving 2 toddlers, I think having the third baby is best when the oldest 2 are old enough to enjoy the baby, too - and to get an invaluable lesson of watching a human grow. I don't know if I will have another baby (I'm 44) but thyroid-wise there wouldn't be any problem. Everything is stabilized now. When the 2 pregnancies upset the thyroid balance and caused Graves, adding a third pregnancy in the mix would have been unwise, for me.

Not sure about the drugs.. but there should be!

We know roughly when I got Graves because my moods were so terrible! :s

Wish there was...I had rage bad too with throwing things at my fiance'...and at the time I knew I was psycho but couldn't do anything to make myself stop. Now its a lot better..I have mood swings but not as severe as I had when I was hyper. Now I'm taking synthroid because I'm hypo.
