I've just recently found out about LDN. Studies show it decreases and lowers the graves' antibodies. Something I wish I would of known about before RAI.
Elaine Moore has some great articles on it and I know she has taken it. She has a question and answer board - you could ask her.

I've been on the LDN since the end of March, 2010. My thyroid antibodies are down so I am taking less MMI (Methimazole) now.
You can try the LDN main website and go from there. Also google Low Dose Naltrexone.

Elaine has written a book on the LDN as well.

this is what I found out about possible side effects.
It is also being used for people going through drug rehab.
Some of the major side effects produced by Naltrexone are:
Severe stomach pains,
Yellowing of the eyes or skin,
Dark colored urine.
Some minor side effects are;-
Diarrhea or constipation,
Headache,
Joint or muscle pain,
Mild stomach pain,
Nausea or vomiting,
Nervousness and sleeping trouble.
I've also read that it's only available through compounding pharmacies.
I too wished I had heard about this before doing RAI treatment.
I think the side effects mentioned from the LDN is for at higher doses such as 50 mg and higher.
The LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) is is mainly therapeutic doses between 3 and 4.5 mg once per day.

Do a google search and type in doctors who prescribe Low Dose Naltrexone in New York City. It'll bring up a page of links that you can try.
