Graves' Disease Support Group
Graves-Basedow disease is a medical disorder that may manifest several different conditions including hyperthyroidism (over activity of thyroid hormone production), infiltrative exophthalmos (protruberance of one or both eyes and associated problems) and infiltrative dermopathy (a skin condition usually of the lower extremities). This disorder is the most common cause of...
Your thyroid levels sounds like these are off. If you post your labs with the ranges and what meds you are on, we can try to figure out the next steps together with you.

Slow and steady wins the race here. This means frequent labs every four to six weeks is a must. Then slowly reduce the ATD (antithyroid drug) until the 'right' dosage is found to hold you 'nice and steady'.
Please read here of all old threads/posts. This way you understand what you need to do to be proactive with your thyroid health. Your doctor isn't the one to do this for you. You have to take the steps yourself to help yourself.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am in the scooter/wheelchair 90% of the time. I got this way when my thyroid problem, Graves' Disease made it worst for me. I had dipped hypO so bad and was held there like that for nearly a year. Then within a month I found myself using the scooter/wheelchair.
My kids say I went from walking one day to no walking overnight. During those times were a blur for me, because I was so ill and just sat in the recliner chair all day and night.
Don't worry, just go get copies of all your lab results, how much ATD you were on every time, and we'll help you figure things out.

I just pretend very well, keep that stupid smiley thingy on "excelent mood", I refuse to give in totally to how I feel, and if I want to have a bit of a self pitty party I just give my self a time limit.
I stay active, love my new found Bikram Yoga, stay away from annoying people, eat well and tell my self: Slow and steady ... give it time, healing will come. I try to always remind my self of the good things this thyroid trouble has given me. I found yoga, I learned to be more patience, I am more "in the moment". I remind my self that I am pretty awesome for despite not feeling well on and off, in general people will never know ( I do not talk about it with anyone, that's why I am on this board) and I have continued life and enjoy most of it.
Without sounding like some kind of cult guru, but I believe that to a certain extent you can use your mind to sort of "overscream" what is bad with good. Now, faceache, I do realize my case is not as bad of some people and gosh ... a good self pitty party on occasion can be very healing too. So let it all out!
Anti depressants .... I used to work with some high end psychiatrists in Malibu and LA and learned ALOT from them. I think AD are a very useful medicine to alter chemicals in your body when they are making you feel bad. But in your case, I would first make sure that my thyroid levels were nice and level where they are good for you, like Dairy and mmzt trying to guide towards. Then you have ruled out that your mood is not down because of a different cause and you are not masking the real issue.
Also ... what you are going through is damn hard. Feeling down and bad from it, is a very difficult but neccesary coping emotion. Unless you are stuck in it, you might need to experience it.
And last from my experience: When I feel physically weak, I also get more insecure. And like you, I sometimes wonder why my husband wants me. Although physically I have not changed much and think I am still a hot mama LOL, in my head I feel like a whiny drag. This sounds so cliche, but I do think it is the truth: He loves ME, who he knows I am. He also loves the current me, and how I handle things. He is in awe of my strength, even if it is through my weakest moments. If your financee truly loves you he will see YOU, in all your glory, even if one eye is not as perfect. Ask him, ask him for confirmation about why he thinks you are still gorgeous.
And totally: participating on this forurm and recieve and give support helps tremendously in keeping the attitude high!
I can not give you any promisses but most likely you will be okay again, like many here and you will be able to say that you overcame this! That is waaaay more of an accomplishment then being pretty and lucky your whole life.
Okay, done pep talking.

I was later thinking how cruel teenagers can be. They have the sensitivity of a male Neanderthaler, sometimes. You should feed your daughter an overdose of caffeine, get her infected with a huge pink-eye infection, shave patches of hair out and asks how she feels ... then take her to the mall and totally act embarrased.
Just kidding.
