So sorry I really don't have much experience with TED as I haven't had issues to the extreme as some of people have had. In my early days of untreated Graves', I did go through where my eyes were blurry and doubled vision. Once I got put on meds the issue resolved.
For people suffering from TED is good to try things like;
Flaxseed oil for dry eyes and for the omegas.
Resveratrol
GLA
Turmeric
Having optimal vitamin D3 levels
Keeping head elevated at nights while sleeping
Taping eyes shut at night
Taking a Milk Thistle supplement which is a liver herb and by clearing out the liver of toxins may help the eyes

I would ask the ophthalmologist this question about which eye to patch. I am sorry I couldn't be more of a help. I would assume that the affected eye would be the one to patch in order to see out of the good eye.
