hyper vs hypo

So i had bloodwork done on monday and was sure I was still a little hypo, Oct23 bloodwork was
FT4 7.4 (range 7.5-21.1)
Ft3 3.2 (range 3.5-6.5)
Tsh o.746 (range 0.2-4.0)
We changed the dosage from 7.5 tapazole one and 5 the next to 7.5 every third day. I was feeling crappy, freezing, muscle aches and really tired. My endo phoned with the results Friday @ 4pm five minutes after i left to go watch my son play basketball. His message said that I am hyper again with no TSH. He never gave me any #s just said to start taking 7.5 everyday again. Why do I feel hypo when I am really hyper. Why does my body react so badly to such a small change in meds? I had a TSI test done too but wont get the results for that until thursday, but I am sure it wont matter now.Why do I always think that I have hypo symptoms when I am hyper? I feel defeated yet again.

Sometimes the symptoms feel so similar thats its hard to keep them seperated. If you try you sound like a wack job or a hypocondriact. I can realte all to well this roller coaster of events. It a hard thing to deal with and I truly hope you are able to get back to hypo and get better as opposed to going the other way. Which is by far NO fun! Not that either is but Hypo is better then Hyper. WHy do you think you have gone from Hypo to hyper again? What will they do now? Good luck Marpo I truly hope you are better soon.

Hey Malbers...I had the same thing happen to me but in the opposite..and I dont understand why either. There were many times that I had all the hyper symptoms but my blood work showed hypo. Now that Im off all meds I swing between symptoms of hyper and hypo. Just this morning one minute I am freezing and need a heavy sweater and and hour later Im so hot and flushed Im peeling of all the layers. On my last blood test results I was in the lower end of normal...go figure. I dont understand this disease at all......Try not to feel defeated...I know it frustrating. When you get a copy of your blood work and your TSI results it might explain why your feeling the way you do...hugs Kathy

Hey Malbers...when you look at just your FT3 and FT4 it does show that you are hypo. Its my understanding that that is what we are supposed to go by. That would explain your feelings of being hypo if your levels have stayed the same on your last blood tests. Make sure your Endo isnt treating you by your TSH alone.

Thanks dairy. I just dont get it!! I spent to the last few days really upset, I thought that I was getting better! I am so mad. I just want this to be over!! I am almost ready to just quit taking pills and let nature take its course. I cant keep doing this. I try so hard to keep positive but it seems like as soon as things start going good I get another kick while I am down.I dont know what has caused such a change? I should have known that I was getting hyper but I am so unsure of anything anymore.Sorry for whining thats not me but I am so upset.

Hey Malbers...Im so sorry your feeling this was. Are you having added stresses in your life other than the usual Christmas ones? Stress management is really important. Hang in there my friend...big hugs Kathy !!!!

I cant think of any triggers. Everything is good here. Christmas shopping was all done weeks ago, bakings all done. No financial stress, I thought I was feeling well enough to get a job again. I did eat shrimp, my mother in law brought us the biggest tiger shrimp i have ever seen so I ate some. That is the only thing I can think of but i shouldnt make me hyper.Thanks again dairy I needed a hug!!

Hi:

Yes, look at the Free T3 and the Free T4 and go by those numbers whether you are hypO or hypER. Do not use the TSH. Your Free Ts are hypO.

TSH are not an accurate gauge for one to go by on since it is a pituatary hormone. It is also messed up by the thyroid antibodies. It will not give a true reading for some people until about a year after having been regulated by antithyroid drugs, etc.
