Has anybody here ever experienced such bad tremors/shakes all up and down their arms, legs and the hands too? I just can't stand it anymore, it literally takes my breath away. I've tried Xanax, it helps take the edge off a little, but I still shake. It scares me to death, sometimes I feel like my right arm is going to spasm and I'm going to have a seisure or something. Anybody know of a good way to help with this symptom. I have an appointment for more blood work on the 15th seeing as my doctor wanted me to up my PTU for three weeks to see if that works. I also have an appointment with a new doctor, an endrocronologist finally, hope he is good and can help me!!!!!
PTU increase doesn't seem to be working yet. How long does a medication change usually take before it may take effect? Still so sick/anxious and shaky all the time!!!!!! It's been two weeks since I went from taking two 50mg tabs to three.

So sorry! I had horrible muscle tremors and weakness and that was what actually led me the doctors in the first place. I was worried that I had MS or was starting to get Parkinson's or something. It was so scary! I was giving a betablocker called Propanolol, and it helped me a lot. Has your doctor given you a betablocker? You may need to take one. It helped with my massive anxiety as well.

I also have been treated the last month or so with a beta blocker called noten (atenolol). I had such a bad tremor in my right arm and shakiness in my legs, I couldn't walk. It's why I found out I was sick in the first place and was admitted to hospital with a heart rate of over 130.

Please know that the PTU will take effect sooner rather than later, and the symptoms will subside. My endo explained that PTU is preferable initially because it's more quick acting than other ATDs but that every case is individual. Most people see relief in 3-4 weeks, some earlier, is what he told me. You might call your doctor and ask about a beta blocker scrip just to get you through until the PTU kicks in. As long as your doc pulls your chart, you don't have asthma or another contraindicated condition, maybe a beta blocker would help?
